Welcome, I’m Katie!
I’m a children’s writer, mom of two, educator, and lifelong lover of stories.
With a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction, I’ve spent much of my life learning alongside children—teaching, running a preschool, homeschooling my own kids, and spending time in elementary classrooms. Those experiences have given me a front-row seat to the funny, tender, messy, and wonderfully ordinary moments that make childhood so special.
Those are the moments I love to write about.
I’m drawn to the little adventures of everyday childhood—the plans that don’t quite work out, friendships being figured out, big feelings in little moments, and mistakes that become opportunities to grow.
My stories are rooted in family, friendship, faith, humor, nature, and grace. I want young readers to meet characters who feel familiar: kids who are curious and creative, who sometimes get things wrong, who have silly ideas and big hearts, and who are still learning how to love others well.
When I’m not writing, you can usually find me with my family, wandering somewhere outdoors, crocheting, cooking, reading with my kids, or dreaming up the next story.
I’m drawn to stories that feel a little like childhood itself—trees to explore, creeks to splash through, neighbors to know, and everyday adventures waiting just outside the door.
